Sometimes You Just Know

The American League Championship Series shouldn't be a long one. It had a chance to, but the Texas Rangers pulled off a colossal GAKKKKK and lost Game 1 to the Yankees 6-5. In the first inning, the Rangers had a 3-0 lead and were looking for more, but the 3rd out came at home when a wild pitch took a great bounce off the backstop resulting in Jorge Posada making an easy toss to CC Sabathia for the out. It was questionable as if Sabathia made the tag on time, but at that moment I wondered if the run would matter as the night went along. Oh it did!
When Brett Gardner hustled for an infield hit to lead off the 8th, I thought here we go. You gave the Yankees a little opening and now they are going to rip through that opening and win. When the inning ended, it had gone from a 5-1 Texas lead to a 6-5 Yankee advantage and that's the way it finished. Game 2 is Saturday afternoon. I suspect it, and perhaps the rest of the series, won't be close.

Game 1 of the NLCS goes tonight with Roy Halladay against Tim Lincecum as the two best pitchers in the senior circuit collide as the Phillies battle the Giants. If you like good pitching, this is a can't miss game. First run in may win.

How exactly after watching the Argos did they beat the Riders last week? That was beyond putrid. The Argos got less points than the Leafs on this night. That would be the 4-0 Leafs. Hockey armageddon may be upon us sooner than we thought. Be scared, be very scared!!! Like Hab fans, Leafs fans will soon if not already be coming out of the closet. They are as annoying as Montreal fans but in an entirely different way. It could be an ugly winter.

I'm guessing Pat Fiacco doesn't have a subscription to MacLeans and that he would love to step back into the boxing ring for one round against the publisher of that magazine. While our slogan is "I Love Regina", I have to wonder if MacLeans is "Slag Regina every chance you get."

Ken Miller turned 69 on Friday and the team presented him with an autographed jersey. That is a very nice gesture and all, but the best present of all would be to win on Sunday. Don't you agree?

Did anyone embarrass themselves at the Plaza of Honor banquet? Never mind, I know the answer.

What Pats goalie is going to go. My money is on Dawson Guhle as it looks as if Matt Hewitt may be sticking around for a while. It sounds like he was pretty good as Regina beat Lethbridge 3-2 in a shootout.

The Humboldt Broncos will likely be the number one junior "A" team in Canada again this week. They go to 9-1-0-1 with a win in Nipawin.

How competitive is the SJ this year? Five games on Friday night, one ends in overtime, two others end in a one goal deficit with one other ending in a two goal deficit but with an empty netter. Anyone can beat anyone on any given night in the SJ this year and its making for great hockey. Those that read this in SJ markets know what I'm talking about.
