The NHL has cancelled all of its pre-season games in September. This means that a September 27 game between the Oilers and Islanders at the Brandt Centre in Regina and a September 29 game at Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon between the Jets and Bruins have been scrapped.
Even in Saskatchewan, the fans are getting the short end of the stick. I'm guessing you can call the Brandt Centre or Credit Union Centre box office to talk about refunds.

Coach C Issues a Guarantee
Riders head coach Corey Chamblin was his usual congenial self today as he spoke with the media about the status of Darian Durant, the amount of penalties taken in Montreal and this week's game against Calgary. Amidst the congeniality though, Chamblin made a statement that will have some in Calgary stand up and take notice as he made a guarantee when it comes to Jon Cornish. Listen in.
As for Darian Durant, it sounds like he's ready to get back under center..
Rams DL Heads CFL Central Scouting Rankings
The University of Regina Rams have put out numerous players to the CFL and NFL (Hughes, Clermont, Getzlaf, Ryan, etc. etc) and it would seem as if some more are ready to make the leap into the pro ranks as evidenced by the CFL Scouting Bureau's rankings for September. Here are the top 15.

The PGA Tour playoffs are confusing. In the end though, the top 30 point getters on the Tour play in "The Tour Championship". The winner of the final event has a great shot at winning it all, but in some cases, the winner may pocket first place money, but not the FedEx Cup. CFL POTW - Week 12
Travis Lulay, Brock Campbell, Tim Brown and Shawn Gore were named the Gibson’s Finest CFL Players of the Week for Week 12, the Canadian Football League announced today.
The four players were chosen by a panel of judges that includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde, now of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
Lulay, now a second-year starter for BC, was named the Offensive Player of the Week after completing 24 of 40 passes and throwing for 390 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions’ 28-23 win over the Argos. Last year's Most Outstanding Player also chipped in with 42 yards on two carries, helping the Lions to the best overall record in the CFL.
With his touchdown pass in the first quarter, Lulay moved to second all time in CFL history after throwing at least one touchdown pass in 22 consecutive games. Sam Etcheverry sits atop that list having thrown a touchdown pass in 34 consecutive games.
Ticats defensive back Brock Campbell was named the Defensive Player of the Week, thanks to a seven-tackle effort along with a sack in Hamilton's 51-8 win over the Eskimos.
Campbell was a key contributor in limiting the success of all three Edmonton quarterbacks in the game as he earned his first 2012 Player of the Week award.
Lions kick returner Tim Brown was named the Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the Lions' win over the Argos on Saturday.
Brown compiled 77 yards on three kick returns, 52 yards on five punt returns and added 22 yards on one missed field goal for 151 total yards, earning his first special teams honour of 2012.
Slotback Shawn Gore completed the hat-trick for the Lions, after being named the Canadian Player of the Week. The Toronto native compiled 96 yards and a touchdown on three receptions, and also added 17 yards on one carry.

O'Donnell Signs With Eskimos
The Edmonton Eskimos have announced that non-import offensive lineman Matthew O’Donnell has agreed to terms with the club. O’Donnell’s playing rights were acquired in a trade with Saskatchewn in exchange for wide receiver Greg Carr.
O’Donnell was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 2nd round, 15th overall in the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft; but he opted to sign with the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals where he spent the 2011 season on the Bengals practice roster. O’Donnell was recently released by Cincinnati during the NFL’s final cuts.
The Comox, British Columbia native played his college football with Queen’s University in the CIS where he was a standout. O’Donnell collected several awards throughout his career including the Orrin Carson Memorial Trophy for best Offensive Lineman twice in 2009 and 2010; and was named a first team All-Canadian in 2009 and 2010.
Edmonton Eskimo General Manager Eric Tillman says, "We're very pleased to have Matthew join our football club. His addition represents another step in the right direction as we continue to build a strong, young Canadian nucleus here in Edmonton."
"Matthew is an intelligent, hard working young man, who is excited to be here and understands continued hard work will be the key to his development. That said, he was fortunate to play at Queens, one of the outstanding programs in our country, and he continued to improve at right tackle with the Cincinnati Bengals under the tutelage of offensive line coach Paul Alexander."
