Women's Basketball (CIS Ranking: No. 1) – The Cougars just keep winning. They swept Winnipeg last weekend, improving their Canada West record to an unblemished 15-0. The U of R now holds a four-game lead atop the Prairie Division and can clinch home-court advantage in the first round of the postseason with one win this weekend and a division championship with two wins. The Cougars host No. 8-ranked Alberta (11-5) on Friday and Saturday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

Men's Hockey – The Cougars travelled to Calgary last weekend for a two-game series against the Dinos, but were defeated 2-1 and 2-0 in a pair of low-scoring affairs. The U of R is back at home this weekend with Lethbridge in town on Friday and Saturday, with faceoff scheduled for 7 p.m. on both nights. These games have huge postseason implications, as the Cougars enter the weekend five points back of the Pronghorns for the sixth and final Canada West playoff spot but have two games in hand on Lethbridge.

Men's Basketball – The Cougars (5-10) kept their slim playoff chances alive with a pair of wins over Winnipeg last weekend, defeating the Wesmen 86-79 on Friday night and recording a 79-72 comeback win on Saturday. The U of R hosts No. 10 Alberta (10-6) on Friday and Saturday at the CKHS, needing two wins over the Golden Bears and some help on the out-of-town scoreboard.

Men's and Women's Track & Field – Chantelle Labrecque set a new University of Regina record in the shot put and Justin Baker hit the CIS standard in the 60-metre hurdles as the Cougars competed at the Sled Dog Meet in Saskatoon. The Cougars are back in action this weekend at the Bison Classic, which is hosted by the University of Manitoba on Friday and Saturday.

Men's Volleyball – After a five-set loss and a four-set setback to UBC Okanagan last weekend, the Cougars (4-12) are on the road again this Friday and Saturday. They'll face No. 4-ranked Alberta, which comes into the weekend series in third place in the Canada West standings with a 12-4 conference record. Both matches will be webcast live at www.canadawest.tv.

Women's Volleyball – The Cougars (4-12) got back in the win column last weekend in Kelowna, B.C. after defeating UBC Okanagan in five sets on Friday night and in straight sets on Saturday night. Needing to win all four of their remaining conference matches to remain in contention for a playoff position, the Cougars travel to Edmonton this weekend to face No. 4 Alberta (11-5). Both matches will be webcast live at www.canadawest.tv.

Women's Hockey – The Cougars (6-13-1) played No. 3-ranked Calgary tight last weekend at The Co-operators Centre, but lost 4-0 on Friday and suffered a 2-0 setback on Saturday in a game which wasn't settled until a late empty netter by the Dinos. The Cougars are on the road at Lethbridge this weekend before finishing off their season with a pair of afternoon games at home against Alberta on Feb. 11 and Feb. 12.

Men's and Women's Swimming – Jessica Winter scored 39 points for the U of R's women's team and Carlos Quiroz led the men's team with 34 points at the Canada West Championships in Edmonton. Quiroz and Chris Myers became the second and third Cougars to qualify for the CIS Championships, as they'll join Winter at the national meet in Montreal in late February.

Women's Wrestling (CIS Ranking: No. 8) – The Cougars travelled to London, Ont. to compete in the Western Open on Saturday. Three U of R wrestlers scored second-place finishes at the event, including Jasmine Slinn (48 kg), rookie Kayla Brodner (67 kg), and Lisa McKibben (72 kg). The Cougars will have a week off before hosting the 2012 Canada West Wrestling Championships on Feb. 10 and Feb. 11 at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
