Riders Acquire CFL Sacks Leader From Winnipeg

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced they have acquired import defensive lineman Alex Hall  (CFL leading 15 sacks this year) and a 2014 second round draft pick from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in exchange for non-import offensive lineman Patrick Neufeld and a 2015 fourth round draft pick.

Hall (6'6 - 256) is in his second season in the Canadian Football League after signing with the Blue Bombers in April, 2012. This season, the 28-year-old has recorded 31 defensive tackles in 13 regular season games and is currently the league leader in quarterback sacks with 15.

Last season the Glenarden, MD native was named an East Division All-Star after registering 31 defensive tackles and nine quarterback sacks.

Hall was originally selected by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh round (231st overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft after playing at St. Augustine’s University. He went on to play 32 career regular season games before joining the CFL.

So lemme get this straight. We get the CFL sack leader and the first pick of the 2nd round in next years draft for an o-lineman who looked bad all year long and a draft pick in a year where Taman and Chamblin may very well no longer be around. I can't believe Winnipeg is that dumb! Well done Taman!

I like this deal, but who sits? Foley? Chick? Do you really want the CFL sack leader rotating in and out?

Bombers obviously never looked at film of Neufeld at Banjo Bowl.

Those still critical of Taman can hand in their fan card immediately. What a steal!

CFL sacks leader for a backup offensive lineman and we get what's likely the first pick of the 2nd round as well. What's not to like about this deal?

I think getting a new middle linebacker or backup running back is more important than adding to the d-line.

Am I the only one that sees this as a bad deal? We gave up on Neufeld and give him away for someone who may be here for 5 games. I don't see a lot of good in that.
