Let the Dre$$ler $weep$take$ Begin!

The CFL announced Tuesday that Dressler had cleared NFL waivers and therefore was an unrestricted free agent. The former Saskatchewan Roughriders slotback was released Monday by the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Riders released Dressler, 29, in January - roughly two weeks before he was scheduled to become a free agent - so he could explore his options south of the border. Shortly after working out for the Chiefs, Dressler signed with the NFL club but donned No. 13 in honour of Saskatchewan's rabid football fans, affectionately dubbed the 13th Man.

The five-foot-eight, 179-pound native of Bismarck, N.D., spent his entire six-year CFL career with Saskatchewan, registering 442 catches for 6,531 yards and 43 TDs. He surpassed the 1,000-yard receiving plateau five times, including the last four years.

Dressler had five catches for a game-high 81 yards and a TD in Saskatchewan's 45-23 Grey Cup victory over Hamilton last November at Regina's Mosaic Stadium. A two-time all-star, Dressler was the CFL's top rookie in 2008.

Dressler appeared in three exhibition games with Kansas City, recording a 19-yard kickoff return.

Why would WD want to play anywhere else? He knows the people love him here and we will welcome him back with open arms. #comehomeweston

Brad Wall got the CFL to give David Lee his TD ball in Winnipeg so he can get Weston back here if he really tries.

Brad Wall, stick to your daytime job, provincial politics, stop with the get the football back promo. If you want, you may apply for the CFL commissioner job, but first it's required that you have to hand in your resignation as Saskatchewan Premier.

When Weston left, he said he was wearing 13 as a tribute to Rider Nation. He wouldn't do that if he wasn't coming back. Taman just needs to make him a fair offer. I think Vanstone mentioned 200-grand today. I would take that!

Hear Hear ! First sense of sensibility post I've read on this subject anywhere. At age 29 and counting, Weston Dressler should do what's best for his own personal Interests as he owes nothing, nor Is he obligated to resign with the Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club. That's the reality of professional sports. Good luck In your future career endeavours Weston Dressler, thank you.

Where's the blood hound Arash Mandani? He's always good at finding the facts ahead of everyone. He'll find out where Weston Dressler is going to resume his football playing career.

    BREAKING NEWS !!!!

Free agent receiver Weston Dressler will not be signing on with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Ottawa REDBLACKS have made a substantial offer that will be accepted unless either Winnipeg, BC, Edmonton, Montreal offer a more lucrative service contract .

Unless Weston got conked on the noggin in KC and we didn't hear about it, he will be back. He knows what he has here. He will be wearing green and white at the Banjo Bowl.

Is Weston all about the money at this stage in his career or winning? If its money, he goes to Ottawa and if its winning, he stays here. He is the missing piece of the puzzle right now.

Saskatchewan Roughriders Gm Brendan Taman made a very big mistake last year signing Dwight Anderson, a person who intentionally caused personal injury to Weston Dressler while playing on behalf of the Montreal Alouettes. Team interaction between the two players almost nil, professional only for public image media purposes. Numerous Taman blunders coming back to haunt Roughriders organization long term and adding up, salary cap issues, team building through others castoffs etc. More to follow.

Riders buffoon gm Taman released Dressler 29, January 2014. Over spending the league mandated salary cap last year needlessly on ($imon/Anderson, etc) others useless castoffs as per his usual team builds while knowing full well years in advance when his contract expired, maybe he wasn't a priority. Now the team pays the consequences if he signs elsewhere.

Oh look everybody, look at the anonymous "dufus" buffoon defending the gm buffoon Taman, and to top it all off he doesn't know how to spell the word "dufus" correctly, his version "dufous", huh ?

      The spelling cops.

Once again you and Roddie hit a homer today on the Cage. It baffles me why CKRM doesn't let you two do this every day and why you don't have more of a role on gameday coverage. #upwithscruffy #downwithballsy
