Wheat Kings Take Game 4 In OT

(Photo: Keith Hershmiller Photo)

Was it a major or not?

That will be the talk around the water cooler this morning as the Brandon Wheat Kings moved to within a game of the Eastern Conference Championship series with a 3-2 overtime win over Regina Wednesday night to give them a 3-1 series lead and a chance to wrap it up at home Friday.

Regina led the game 2-1 after two, but at the 722 mark of the 3rd, Connor Hobbs took a controversial 5 minute kneeing major and game misconduct. It led to Brandon tying the game up on a Peter Quenneville goal and led to them winning it in overtime on Tanner Kaspick's marker 3 and a half minutes into the extra frame.

If the Pats can win Friday in Brandon, the 6th game will go at the Brandt Centre Sunday night.

Lets call a spade a spade.

Brandon was the better team tonight, but Regina got screwed on the major.

Clean hit from my vantage point!

If Hobbs hit was a major and a game than so was Provorov's! The consistency level of the officials rivals that of the CFL.

    Spoiled a great hockey game.

Pats are done if they don't Hobbs and the Russian kid for the next game.

Major or not, I think its safe to say these two teams are going to be seeing a lot of each other in the playoffs. Two very talented squads with Brandon having a leg up right now.

No penalty on provorov, no penalty on Matsuba and Hobbs gets one.

Some have repeatedly said (and with good reason) that officials should be forced to answer questions from media. Byblow should be allowed to explain his actions.

    That was a horse#### call!

Relax Pat fans, we all know Brandon is the better team and would win this series whether it takes 5 6 or 7 games and the answer is now 5 games.

    HA HA HA

Give these Brandon fans a break, they do have to cheer for the Grease-Fire Bombers in Football.
