The Dwayne Jarrett Experiment Is Over

We won't be seeing what former USC and Carolina Panther receiver Dwayne Jarrett looks like in Rider green. Jarrett, who ended up practicing just twice with the club before suffering a leg injury, informed the football team this morning that he is retiring and has headed home.

Head Coach Corey Chamblin is disappointed that it didn't work out, but says the door is always open if he ever wants to try his luck again. Chamblin admits though he is disappointed to not get the chance to see what he could do and admitted that perhaps Jarrett didn't give the effort that was needed to make his football team. He also said Jarrett told him he didn't want to hold anyone back thus he has made his decision.

What a waste if time and airfare. You build a team around character and this guy does not have any so good bye.

I thought maybe the guy was going to give it a decent shot when he talked about flying all over the place to get here. I guess not. Too bad!

I'll cancel my Jarrett jersey order now.

Typical ...that's what often happens with these NFL cast-offs. They just don't have the desire or drive

If he wasn't in shape, then why bother coming up? I don't understand the rationale behind this move.

Hope he pays for his flight out of here.

My heart was hoping he would be an impact player. My head told me this would happen. Too bad.

John:

Teams are obligated to pay return airfare for players who don't make it or are cut during season. Its in the CBA.
