Women's Soccer – The Cougars (1-0-0) got a goal from Meagan Cormier in the 31st minute and that was all they needed, as the team hung on for a 1-0 victory over Saskatchewan in their home opener on Saturday in front of over 400 fans at the U of R Field. The Cougars are back at home this weekend with matches against Manitoba on Saturday and Winnipeg on Sunday. Both matches will kick off at noon at the U of R Field.

Rams Football (CIS Ranking: No. 10) – The Rams (1-1) trailed by six at halftime, but exploded for 42 consecutive points in the second half to score a 49-20 win over UBC in their home opener on Friday night. Jamir Walker was named the Canada West and CIS Defensive Player of the Week after registering two interceptions, the second of which he took back 19 yards for a touchdown. The Rams are back in action this Friday with a road game against Alberta (0-2) that will be broadcast live on 620 CKRM and at www.canadawest.tv.

Men's Hockey – The Cougars kick off the non-conference schedule with three games at The Co-operators Centre over the weekend, all of which will start at 2:30 p.m. The U of R hosts Briercrest College on Friday, Manitoba on Saturday, and Saskatchewan on Sunday, while the Bisons and the Huskies will square off in an additional non-conference game on Friday night at 7:30 at The Co-operators Centre.

Women's Hockey – The Cougars start non-conference action on Saturday night with a game against the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Caronport, Sask. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Cougars will host the six-team 2nd Annual Mandi Schwartz Challenge next weekend at The Co-operators Centre.
