Riders Get Carr From Eskimos

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have acquired import receiver Greg Carr and a 2013 5th Round pick in the Canadian College Draft from the Edmonton Eskimos.

Carr (6’6 – 204) signed with Edmonton as a free agent during the 2012 off season. The 26-year-old receiver appeared in six games with the Eskimos registering 19 receptions for 214 yards and one touchdown. The Florida State product spent the previous two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers where he hauled in 77 passes for 1,216 yards and eight touchdowns in 18 games.

In exchange, the Riders sent non-import offensive lineman Matt O’Donnell and a 2013 4th Round pick in the Canadian College Draft.

O’Donnell (6’9 – 340) was selected by the Roughriders in the 2nd round (15th overall) of the 2011 Canadian College Draft.

Good trade. Upgrading the talent at receiver is never a bad thing!

O'Donnell never wanted to be here. I'm surprised he sat in Cincy for so long. If Tillman can make a player of him so be it. If he doesn't, we have a 1000 yard receiver who has some height. This could be a great move.

Nice job Taman. Let Eric take another Canadian draft pick from you. What are you thinking?

Could we move Smith inside and jettison Jeffers-Harris with this move?
