Kansas City Chiefs Player Commits Suicide at Team Facility

The NFL is in a state of shock this morning after a linebacker with the Kansas City Chiefs allegedly committed suicide in front of his coach and general manager at the team's facility.

Details remain very sketchy, but reports say linebacker Javon Belcher shot his girlfriend to death and then drove to the team's facility where he shot himself while Romeo Crennel and Scott Pioli pleaded with him to put the weapon down.

Belcher had played most of the season for the Chiefs, but he did not dress last weekend in a loss to Denver.

The Chiefs are to play the Carolina Panthers at home tomorrow. The game will go ahead as scheduled after NFL officials discussed the matter with the Chiefs.
