Riders Sign Brendon Labatte To Extension

The Roughriders signed veteran offensive lineman Brendon LaBatte to a contract extension through the 2017 season Monday.

LaBatte is in his fifth season with Saskatchewan after starting his CFL career with Winnipeg.  The 30 year old has played in 139 games..

The Weyburn product, who played CIS football with the Rams, helped Saskatchewan capture the 2013 Grey Cup and was the league's top lineman that year.

He has missed much of this season due to a concussion that will likely keep him out for the remainder of the year,

The team also signed 5 players to the practice roster on Monday including University of Nevada defensive lineman Ian Seau.

Seau is the nephew of NFL hall of fame linebacker Junior Seau.

So is Labatte going to bother playing or does he just sign contracts?

Probably O'Day suggestion to sign Labatte. Why oh why do they keep O'Day around eating up valuable Rider money? He contributes nothing to Jones/Murphy/Reynolds trifecta.

Keeping O'Day is akin to the Oilers cleaning house two years ago but giving Lowe and McTavish little offices down the hall. How did the Oilers make out last year?
