The Monkey Is Done

First it was me leaving the airwaves and now its Maggie. OK, I don't know if TSN is pushing the popular monkey out the door the way I was, but the playoff prognosticating macaque will spin the wheel for the last time this year before retiring. I wonder if the plan to oust Maggie was made several months in advance like it was with ---oh never mind!! TSN has way too much class for that!!!

Maggie the Monkey, a crab-eating macaque from the Bowmanville Zoo, gained international fame in 2003 as a guest analyst on TSN's NHL Playoff coverage with her ‘highly scientific' method of predicting NHL winners by spinning a wheel. Maggie boldly - and correctly - predicted the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim would make it to the 2003 Stanley Cup Final by beating favoured Detroit, Dallas and Minnesota.
Overall, Maggie the Monkey's playoff prediction record is an impressive 40-35. Maggie's best year was 2006 when she finished first out of a panel of TSN hockey experts including Bob McKenzie and Pierre McGuire. The one blemish on Maggie's broadcasting career – is that she has never correctly picked the Stanley Cup final winner. She plans to go out on top and improve her record with her 2009 Stanley Cup winner prediction this year.

Why am I thinking James Duthie and the rest of the TSN panel are celebrating tonight knowing they won't be upstaged by a monkey. Then again, they could be joined by Sean McCormick next year. (ITS A JOKE!!!)

Hey Mitch:

Maggie isn't retiring. She is coming to RAWLCO to supplant the two idiots that know nothing about running a NT operation. We miss you buddy!!!!

I've gotta post on this thread because I can't on the other. Correct me if I'm wrong but can't Columbus catch Vancouver. I think they could win a first round series but be done once they get to SJ and Detroit territory. Same goes with Chicago. Are you over the Oilers fall yet??? I can't believe I have to wait until 2 to watch the Masters. At least that means I'll put in a half day at work. HA HA

If Vancouver loses both of their two games in regulation and Columbus wins both of theirs than they have identical records of 43-29-10. I believe I heard Duthie say last nite that if that happens Vancouver has the tiebreaker.

You and Roddie are thinking alike this morning Mitch. You both love Vin Scully. And why wouldn't you because he is outstanding. As a Dodgers fan I have heard him do many a game and with satellite radio I hear him many, many times. He is so much better doing radio than he is TV because he is so descriptive. RP lists his all-time favourites. Who are yours??

Mitch and the monkey on satellite radio. Make it so!

Mitch and the monkey were on radio now its Jamie and the monkey. Oh wait, the monkey would know more about hockey and definitely football.

That analogy doesn't work. Most monkeys have hair.

Perhaps if Maggie got into management at CJME, it would be better. After all, the only program worth listening to is Gormley and that was the case when you were there Mitch. Sorry but thats the truth. Bad sound, bad hosts, bad website, bad everything. Actually Alec Docking and that other guy that reads the news are alright as well but after that---NOPE!!
