Riders Make Two Trades/Round 2 Of WHL Playoffs On Shaw

Its been a busy day for the Saskatchewan Roughriders as they have made trades with both the Bombers and Ti-Cats. The team has sent receiver Adarius Bowman, non-import offensive lineman Jean Francois Morin-Roberge, non-import defensive back Brady Browne, a player from the Roughriders negotiation list, the Roughriders sixth round draft pick in the 2010 CFL Canadian Draft and the Riders fifth round pick in the 2012 CFL Canadian Draft. In return, they get import offensive lineman Dan Goodspeed, the negotiation list rights to import running back Tyler Roehl, a fifth round pick in the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft (originally traded from Saskatchewan to Winnipeg for Jermese Jones), a fifth round pick in the 2011 or 2012 CFL Canadian Draft and one of the following: The option to swap first round draft picks in either 2010 or 2011, or if not the Riders will receive two future second round draft picks from Winnipeg.
Don't go out and order a Dan Goodspeed jersey because he didn't last long as a member of the green and white. The Riders then send Goodspeed and that 5th round pick to Hamilton for former U of S offensive lineman Jordan Rempel and Hamilton's 2nd round pick--9th overall in this year's draft.
This means the Riders will now have two draft picks in the upcoming draft and they have added more Saskatchewan born talent to their roster. Rempel is the 9th player on the roster that is a Saskatchewan boy as he joins Joe McGrath, Scott Schultz, Neal Hughes, Stu Foord, Chris Getzlaf. Jason Clermont, Gene Makowsky and Mike Stadnyk. Who's kidding who, North Dakota might as well be Saskatchewan so lets add Weston Dressler to that list too.
First impressions---thumbs up!!!!

Bowman--great talent, no hands. I hope he doesn't find them in Winnipeg because he could be a player if he gets his head on straight.

Rempel--another solid addition with Saskatchewan ties.

Who is Tyler Roehl and does he have a future here.

This is one of those trades that might take a year or two to determine who wins or loses. I like it though because we get another draft pick--and a high one--out of it.

Hey Mitch
Will your thumb still be up if Bowman turns out to be the next Jamel Richardson??! This trade doesn't have me smiling.

With Clermont and Fantuz inside, and Dressler emerging last year, Bowman would have had trouble making the team this year. I hope he has a good year in Winnipeg (I am a Rider shareholder, even if I live in losertoba) so that he can get his chance at the NFL.
