Riders Help Out Saskatchewan Amateur Football
Saskatchewan Roughrider Chairman Roger Brandvold announced today that the organization has created a $650,000 legacy fund to help support amateur football throughout the province. The fund will consist of profits generated from the Roughriders centennial celebrations held throughout 2010.
“The centennial legacy fund will make an incredible impact on minor football across the province and these additional funds will help us broaden the reach so that more kids will enjoy the benefits of participating in sport,” stated Brandvold.
Through a partnership with Sask Sport and the previously established Sport Legacy Fund, the funds will be dispersed for amateur football capital projects. A committee has been formed in partnership with Football Saskatchewan and Sask Sport that will establish application guidelines and criteria for making the grant decisions.
The committee has announced that $100,000 will be allocated to Regina Minor Football to support the Liebel Field refurbishment project along with another $100,000 to support the Hilltops and Saskatoon Minor Football with new field lights at Ron Atchison Field.
“Investments like this ensure that the centennial celebrations legacy lasts well beyond 2010,” stated Brandvold. “This is a great first step for our legacy plan to be built upon.”
