Marathon in Swift Current


The Swift Current Broncos are one game away from their 2nd huge upset of the WHL Playoffs. The Broncos lead the Regina Pats 3-1 with all wins coming in overtime after Glenn Gawdin's goal midway through the 3rd OT gave Swift Current a 5-4 win. Dawson Leedahl had all Regina goals including the one to tie it up with 20 seconds to play in regulation.

Game 5 of the series goes Friday night at the Brandt Centre.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

Portland 4 Kelowna 2  -- Caleb Jones, Joachim Blichfeld  (PORT) 1G, 1A   (Rockets lead best of 7 series 2-1)

Seattle 5 Everett 4 (OT) -- Matt Barzal (SEA) OT winner at 1:30  ( Thunderbirds lead best of 7 3-0)

Ya it's sad the Pats are bowing out in 2nd round, but Seattle has this WHL title all but wrapped up.

Regina Pats will be just fine taking this series in 7 games, after that_ don't know... after Jake went down, club lost a step. Watching them, they never seem to have the pivotal gun man sitting in the slot for the set up shot to the back of the net. Three forwards after always chasing the puck in the offensive zone bunched up with the Broncos dictaing the play. Good Friday, no problem for a Pats win with some adjustments in practice..
