What Did You Miss on Tuesday?

--The NHL has started to let its award finalists trickle out starting with the nominees for top goalie.  It will be between Pekka Rinne of Nashville,  Andrei Vasilevskiy of Tampa and Connor Hellebuyck of the Jets.   Rinne shared the league lead in shutouts with 8,  Vasilevskiy also had 8 shutouts amongst his 44 wins while Hellebuyck also had 44 wins to share the league lead.

--Hellebuyck and the Jets are one game away from the second round. He stopped 30 shots to get the shutout while Mark Schiefele had two goals in a 2-0 win giving the Jets a 3-1 series lead.  Lars Eller scored in double OT to give Washington a 3-2 win over Columbus cutting the Jackets lead to 2-1 and Vegas moves into the 2nd round as Davidson's Brayden McNabb had the only goal in a 1-0 Knights win over L-A to give them a four game sweep.

--What a Game 7 this would have been.  The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds beat Owen Sound 9-7 to advance to the OHL's Western Conference final against Kitchener.  The Greyhounds were the number one team in Canada when the playoffs started.

--NFL fans will know when their team plays Thursday night. The league will release its 2018 schedule at that time.  It is thought the Philadelphia Eagles will open the season at home with a Thursday night game against Dallas.

--A first for the Raptors.  They lead a playoff series 2-0 after a 130-119 win over Washington. Demar DeRozan tied a career high with 37 points as the Raptors set a club record for points in a playoff game.
