Rider Continue Moving Players In And Out

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed free-agent national running back Jerome Messam.             

Messam (6’3 – 230) joins the Riders after spending the last two and a half seasons with the Calgary Stampeders. 

Last season, Messam started 17 regular-season games for the Stamps, picking up 1,016 yards and nine touchdowns on 215 carries. He added 26 carries for 133 yards and two touchdowns through the West Final and Grey Cup.

In 125 career games, Messam has amassed 5,484 rushing yards and 34 touchdowns. He is a three-time division all-star and two-time CFL all-star.

This will be Messam’s second stint with the Riders after spending 2014 and part of 2015 with the team. He’s also had stops with B.C., Edmonton and Montreal through his eight-year career.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed international free-agent offensive lineman Travis Bond.           
Bond (6’7 – 356) joins the Riders after spending his first two CFL seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The 27-year-old North Carolina product played 28 regular-season games at right guard for the Bombers through two seasons. 

He was named a West Division and CFL All-Star in 2016.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released Canadian linebacker Henoc Muamba, the team announced on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old played in 17 games with the Riders in 2017 and tallied 82 tackles, 11 special teams tackles, two interceptions and three forced fumbles. He suited up in five games with Saskatchewan in 2016 and amassed 18 tackles, two sacks and two special teams tackles.

Before joining the Roughriders, Muamba signed with the Montreal Alouettes and played the final four regular season games for the Als picking up 14 defensive tackles.

The 6-foot, 230-pound defender spent his first three CFL seasons with the Bombers after originally being selected first overall in the 2011 CFL Draft. He was named a CFL All-Star after racking up 111 total tackles during the 2013 season.
