Tillman Pleads Guilty

From ctv.ca

Saskatchewan Roughriders general manager Eric Tillman pleaded guilty to a single sexual assault charge in a Regina courthouse on Monday.

The charge stemmed from an alleged incident at his home involving a teenaged babysitter.

Tillman, 52, was arrested on Jan. 27, 2009 after a 16-year-old girl filed a complaint alleging he sexually assaulted her in August 2008.

Tillman, who led the Roughriders to the 2007 Grey Cup Championship, has been on paid administrative leave from the team since he was charged.

When the media learned of the charge on Feb. 3, the married father of two suggested there was more to the story and said he looked forward to the facts of the case coming to light in court.

At the time, he pleaded not guilty to the charge, which the Crown reduced to a summary matter. A summary matter is considered less serious than an indictable offence. The maximum sentence for a summary sexual assault conviction is 18 months in jail. An indictable sexual assault conviction carries a maximum jail sentence of 10 years.

The judge has reserved his decision until Tuesday morning.

One can only assume this is the end for Tillman in Riderville. I don't know how the Riders can keep him now that guilt has been established.

I want to hear what your buddy Remenda says about this. He is giving Danny Heatley a 2nd chance and Heatley did something far worse than what Tillman did. If he doesn't come out and say Tillman has apologized and deserves a second chance, he will prove to be the idiot that I and many others think he is.
