J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets!

Let's say it right now. The San Diego Chargers are the NFL's version of the San Jose Sharks. Great in the regular season, crap in the playoffs. The Chargers soiled the linen once again on Sunday as they were beaten 17-14 by the New York Jets. I don't know what it is about this team, but they are very different come playoff time and it was in full evidence again on Sunday. Phillip Rivers throws 9 INT's all year, he throws 2 on Sunday. Nate Kaeding missed 3 FG's all year, he misses 3 on Sunday albeit one was from 55 yards. Two of those misses were from inside the 40 and both of his misses were from inside the 40. What it means is the Jets are one win away from going to the Super Bowl. They will be in Indy next week for the AFC championship. I think the Jets know the Colts won't be pulling their starters in this one like they did a few weeks ago as they said good-bye to the perfect season in controversial fashion.

What it also means is my wife will be on pins and needles all week waiting for this game. For some inane reason, she latched herself onto the Jets when it came time to picking what team she was going to cheer for. I think it had something to do with Vinny Testaverde. I digress. I'm sure she will have her Jets sweatshirt on yelling at the TV impressing me with her football knowledge at times and making me shake my head at her lack of it at other times. I don't know if she will be doing her happy dance at the end of next week's game the way she was at the end of last night's game, but if she is it means her team is in the Super Bowl. Good God!

Could Super Bowl XLIV(44) be a game between the two teams Brett Favre played for after the Packers. It might. The Vikings are one win away from the Super Bowl after torching Dallas 34-3. Was Jerry Jones not at this game? FOX cameras didn't show his royal smugness yesterday. Instead we had to settle for Tony Romo looking more like Tony Danza. As for Favre, give him credit. He threw four touchdown passes as the Vikings will now go to the place where Brett won his only Super Bowl---New Orleans. The game will feature the two most prolific offences in the NFL. It should be a ring a ding dong dandy.

How much do I hate the fact that we have to get CTV and TSN commercials for the NFL games. Whoever made this happen should be stoned. I think I speak for many when I say I don't care who you are, you did not invent Windows 7 so quit taking credit for it. While I like the Budweiser girls kicking the ham through the uprights, I have seen it too many times. The same goes for Budd Light and the squid. Damn, I would love to see that squid grab Budd in his tentacles and hold him under water until we didn't have to worry about him any more.
-----
Dallas linebacker Keith Brooking was not happy with the fact that Favre threw a touchdown pass late in the 4th quarter to turn a 27-3 game into a 34-3 game. He didn't like the fact Favre and the starters were still on the field and called it classless and BS. Brooking had no problems the week before when the Cowboy starters played the whole game in a thrashing of the Eagles. Grab a soother Keith! WAAH WAAH WAAH!

Jennifer Love Hewitt had what done to her what? Really! Is this a new fad! Is this going to catch on? Will Regina women be able to go somewhere to do what JLH did? Is this a job that perhaps I ---and many other men---should start training for. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, do a google search on the lovely Ms. Love Hewitt. Who thinks of these ideas?

Graham DeLaet takes home 35 thousand and some change after finishing in a tie for 25th at the Sony Open in Hawaii. The Weyburn native showed he belongs on the PGA Tour with a 72 hole score of 275, 10 back of winner Ryan Palmer. He will compete next weekend at the Bob Hope Invitational. Another top 25 finish would have some heads turning early in the 2010 season.

What happened to the Pats bulldog that they used to skate out of?

There's nothing like watching football over a couple of drinks and some eats while yakking with a good friend. I love afternoons like that.

Have you seen that Raptors ad on TSN in which it says "Canada's Team". There is only one Canada's team and it ain't the Toronto Raptors!
------
I didn't see Ron McLean's interview with Colin Campbell on Saturday night in which he allegedly "skewers" Alex Burrows over the affair between him and referee Stephane Auger that flared up this week. While I didn't see it, Canucks coach Alain Vigneault did. He went after McLean Saturday night during the "After Hours" segment. I didn't see the interview so I can't really comment on it, but its got Vigneault hot under the collar. I'm thinking there will be an interview between McLean and Vigneault next week.

There's nothing wrong with Pete Paczko's Sport Zone shows that airs on Access 7. That might be changing soon though. You've been warned!

While it would never happen because NHL teams would not allow their players to take part, can you imagine if the upcoming Trans-Canada clash between the Pats alumni and Warriors alumni featured players playing in the NHL from those two teams. Tell me the Civic Centre wouldn't be packed to see guys like Barret Jackman, Derek Morris and Josh Harding take on a Warriors team featuring Troy Brouwer, Dustin Boyd and Ryan Smyth. That would be phenomenal. Alas, it is just a pipe dream!

Simon Cowell is quitting American Idol at the end of the year. WHO CARES?!
------
That's it. I have 2 hours of "24" to watch. Jack Bauer is back and so is the best show on TV.

As you start your Monday, remember this....

Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

You need to watch the McLean interview with Campbell. It was nothing more than a personal attack on Burrows. I've always thought McLean is one of the best, but if he was looking to tarnish Burrows' reputation, all he did was tarnish his own.

Your wife might be the only Jets fan in Regina. I don't know of anyone else in this city who roots for the American green and white.

The Chargers are the NFL's version of the Sharks. HA HA HA!! Great line! I'm using that one today.

What a choke job by the Chargers!
The Jets won't see Curtis Painter next weekend as the Colts move one step closer to their 2nd Super Bowl.
Who are the Toronto Raptors?
Where's the balance on the Burrows story when Burrows isn't even interviewed in the piece. Bad journalism by CBC and HNIC.
Remple and you do a nice job on the Pats games.

Jennifer Love Hewitt's action is interesting to say the least. Gotta wonder why.

About Campbell's comments on Burrows, shouldn't he fined for making negative comments on a player, like players are when officials are slammed? The NHLPA should be filing a grievance.
