New Deal For Alexander

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed non-import defensive back Donovan Alexander to a two year and an option contract extension. Financial details of the signing were not released.

The 24-year old started 16 regular season games at cornerback this season. He finished the year with 35 defensive tackles, three pass knockdowns and two fumble recoveries.

Alexander was acquired earlier this year from the Montreal Alouettes where he dressed in four games as a defensive back last season after spending time with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.

The Winnipeg native played three seasons at the University of North Dakota with receiver Weston Dressler. In his senior year with the Fighting Sioux, Alexander dressed in 12 games and tallied 47 defensive tackles, two tackles for a loss and nine knockdowns. He was selected in the third round (23rd overall) by the Alouettes in the 2007 Canadian Draft

Nice to see ET is already starting work on 2010 and beyond before 2009 is over.

Alexander has been quiet, yet effective in 09. I like this move.
