Stanley Cup Preview

I will be brutally honest, I don't see the New York Rangers winning the Stanley Cup. I don't think they are close to being as strong a team as the Los Angeles Kings.  While the goaltending battle may be equal between Jonathan Quick and Henrik Lundqvist, I give the slightest of edges to Quick because he has been in the final.  The Kings have the better defence led by the best blueliner in the league--Drew Doughty and they have far more depth than the Eastern Conference champions.  How do the Rangers win? Well, first off they weren't favoured to beat the Penguins, Flyers or Canadiens and they did. They led the Eastern Conference and were 2nd in the NHL in road victories with 25 after starting the season 3-6 on a nine game road trip.

On the surface it may not seem like the Rangers have the experience the Kings do since most of L-A's players were on the team that won the Cup two years ago, but Martin St. Louis and Brad Richards were on the Tampa squad that beat Calgary so they do have some. They also have rest on their side as they had a couple of days to relax unlike the Kings who have gone 7, 7 and 7 to get here.

In the end, this has the makings of a short series with Los Angeles dominating, but somehow I don't see that happening. I don't see the Rangers winning either though. I will take L-A in six with the Conn Smythe Trophy winner being Jeff Carter.

Quick has been shaky in the playoffs and Lundquist has been steady. If he outplays Quick and steals a game in LA, it might be tough for the Kings. I still think LA wins though,

Sorry Mitch but who really cares about the NHL?

It is summer time and I have absolutely no interest in hockey in the summer.
