New Bodies In Riderville

Two new bodies were at Rider practice Monday as the team got back onto the Mosaic Stadium turf for the first time since Friday's season-opening win over B.C.
As Rod Pedersen(who wounded himself at camp today gashing his elbow) reported first on his blog over the weekend, University of Montana quarterback Cole Bergquist was wearing one of the red jerseys. That jersey number was 17. Here's hoping Mr. Bergquist doesn't find out the success of the last Rider quarterback that wore 17.
Matt O'Meara is back with the football club. The team in need of some offensive linemen because of the injuries in that area and with O'Meara available, he comes back to the team that drafted him in 2005 with the 3rd overall pick. Head coach Ken Miller indicated O'Meara could start this week. Miller also said Belton Johnson's leg is better, but that the big o-lineman is also suffering from a separated clavicle/sternum. Another o-lineman is also on his way to Regina. His name is Joel Bell and he comes from Furman University.
The coach also saying it looks like they will head to Toronto without Wes Cates meaning Hugh Charles will get another start.
------
Two NHL notes. The Leafs have reportedly signed free-agent defenceman Francois Beauchemin and the Senators have signed Alexei Kovalev to a two year deal.
