The time has come for this thing to either get done or to be shelved permanently.
This comes from the Leader-Post's website.
REGINA — A taxpayer-funded report looking at options for the future of Mosaic Stadium will remain under wraps for now, as the Saskatchewan Party government emphasizes a stadium project isn't currently among its top priorities.
"We continue to work with our partners. We're in conversations with the City of Regina, with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and with the federal government as well," said Enterprise and Innovation Minister Ken Cheveldayoff.
"We make the commitment that we'll make as much information public as possible at the appropriate time but we're not in a position to do any of that right now," Cheveldayoff told reporters on the way into a cabinet meeting at the legislature.
The $70,000 report compiled by outside consultants and handed over to the government in late May has been described as a concept review of the stadium possibilities, including major upgrades, a new outdoor stadium or an indoor facility.
"We want to get to a certain stage with the work that we do before we release it," said Cheveldayoff, who acknowledged the province would like to see the private sector involved if a stadium project proceeds.
"We're taking the initiative as government to do the front end here but at some point we'll be looking to the private sector if indeed we do go ahead," he said.
"Our preference is for as much private sector involvement as possible."
Cheveldayoff said he doesn't have a timeline for when more information might be released.
A much more extensive and costlier feasibility study will be required if a stadium project is to proceed to the next step.
Premier Brad Wall has in the past suggested a multi-purpose entertainment facility might make more sense than a facility largely focused on football.
