The School of Brock

Why would any man want to step inside the octagon with Brock Lesnar. The former WWE champ is just one mean s-0-b, and he proved it on Saturday night as he turned Frank Mir's face into hamburger at the main event of UFC 100. What was great about this one is that Lesnar then turned back to his wrestling days and got right in Mir's face and then delivered a post-bout interview with Joe Rogan that was simply pure gold and one that had to leave Vince McMahon smiling if he saw it.

Another person I would not want to step into the octagon with is Canadian Georges St. Pierre. GSP shows why pound for pound he may be the best fighter in UFC as he beats Thiago Alves and does it with a pulled groin that he suffered in the 3rd round. When this guy takes you down, you are done. Its plain and simple.

If you watched the pay-per-view, I think you'll agree when I say the Dan Henderson knockout win over Michael Bisping might be the knockout of the year.

There is a wild sense of happiness in the Rider Nation this morning and for good reason. Yes, the final score was 46-36, but that flattered the Argos who were out of this game at halftime. Head coach Ken Miller had to be impressed with the play of many, but perhaps give a lot of credit to a patchwork offensive line that kept the pressure off of Darian Durant. Durant really wasn't pressured a lot and that paid huge dividends.
Give Durant a lot of credit as well. He spread the ball around as he completed passes to several receivers. He didn't throw for 300 yards like he did last week against B.C., but he also kept the ball as he threw just one interception (one that happened once the result was academic) and three touchdowns. Oh yeah, he's now 6-0 as a starter.
As was said to me by someone tonight, everyone will talk about how the Riders can show everyone how good they are against Montreal. Maybe its Montreal that has to show how good they are seeing they have flattened two teams that haven't gotten off to good starts. I'm not buying that argument. However, it should be a week that will have everyone in a playoff-type mentality as they wait for Saturday. I already heard one person categorize Saturday's game as a Grey Cup preview. We're only through two weeks people....don't go planning any parades yet.

At some point today, this blog went over the 50-thousand mark in total visits. I did not think when I started this in February that I would hit 50-thousand visits on July 11. It wouldn't have surprised me if the 50-thousand mark came in February of 2010. Anyways, I thank you for checking everything out. Have a good Sunday and if you are going to Craven tonight, enjoy George Strait!!!!!

Considering the Als and Riders are the only two undefeated teams left, it is plausible that the two teams could meet in November. No one is predicting we've got the Cup, but it is a good motivator!!
