"The Hawk" Returns


The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that they have signed import defensive lineman Brent Hawkins to a new contract. Financial details of the signing were not released. The team also announced they have released import defensive back John Eubanks, import receiver Terrence Nunn and import defensive lineman Remond Willis from the roster.

Hawkins came to the Riders when he signed a free agent deal in April, 2010. In his first CFL season the Illinois State product tallied 31 defensive tackles, four tackles for a loss, three quarterback sacks and two fumble recoveries in 13 games starting at defensive end. Due to a shoulder injury sustained in training camp, Hawkins missed the 2011 CFL season. The 28-year-old was set to become a free agent in February.

Eubanks signed as a free agent with the Riders in February, 2011. He dressed in two games with the Riders and started at halfback in one game. He spent the remainder of the season on the nine-game injured list .He finished the season with three defensive tackles and one special teams tackle.

Nunn signed as a free agent in January, 2011. He started in eight regular season games at receiver and then spent the remainder of the season on the teams nine game injured list. He finished with 13 catches for 171 yards.

Willis signed as a free agent in July, 2011. He played in ten regular season games at defensive end and finished the season on the nine-game injured list. He tallied 22 defensive tackles and one quarterback sack.

Did Willis do something to piss off management? I actually thought he played pretty well when he was here and I thought he would be a part of the team next year.

Happy to see the Hawk resigned - I hope we actually see him play this year.
