Bryant Signs With Argos/Stamps Stays In Edmonton

The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that import WR Romby Bryant has signed with the club through the 2014 season.

Commented Argonauts General Manager, Jim Barker, “It is rare to find a veteran receiver that is as gifted and versatile as Romby Bryant. He does all of the little things that don't necessarily show up on the stats sheet. His willingness to contribute in all phases of the game rubs off on the rest of the locker room which makes your whole team better. Romby is a consummate professional and we are happy he is here to compete for a position on our roster.”

Bryant spent the last three seasons as a stalwart on the Calgary Stampeders receiving corps, accumulating 183 catches for 2,477 yards and 22 touchdowns. Prior to that, Bryant spent nearly two seasons in a Winnipeg Blue Bombers uniform before being traded to the Stamps in the middle of the 2009 season. In his six-year CFL career, the Oklahoma City native has amassed 295 catches for 4,428 yards and 31 touchdowns. Bryant has been named a CFL Western Division All-Star once (2010), and CFL Offensive Player of the Week twice (2009 - Week 17; 2010 - Week 4).

Remarked Bryant, "I am very excited to have a chance to be part of a team preparing to defend a championship. I think Toronto is an elite team, and every receiver who has ever played in the CFL would be lying if they said they never thought about playing with Ricky Ray. I have been in the league for some time now, and I look forward to working with my new coaches and teammates to try and win another Grey Cup for the city."

A big play receiver, Bryant gained recognition at the league level for his timely touchdown during the 2012 Western Semi-Final, a score that clinched a berth in the Western Final for the Stampeders. CFL.ca named it the top play of the 2012 CFL season - click here to view the play.

Bryant’s college career was split between Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Community College (2000-2001) and the University of Tulsa (2002-2003). In his two seasons at Tulsa, Bryant finished with 96 receptions for 1,341 yards and 15 touchdowns, and
