Viterra Joins Saskatchewan Curling Scene


Viterra, Canada’s leading grain handler, and CURLSASK, the collective voice for curling in Saskatchewan, are pleased to announce that Viterra will be the title sponsor for the 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. The announcement regarding the two year agreement was made earlier today at the Callie Curling Club in Regina.
In his remarks to the audience, Kyle Jeworski, Viterra’s President and CEO for North America said, “We’re excited about our new partnership with CURLSASK, which is a great opportunity to show our support for one of the province’s premier sporting events. Saskatchewan has an excellent national and international reputation for curling, and this event will be a showcase for local talent from communities across the province.”
Competition for the this year’s tournament will begin with the Viterra Northern Playdowns in Saskatoon, and the Viterra Southern Playdowns in Regina December 19-22. The Viterra Scotties Tournament of Hearts will take place in Tisdale, SK starting on January 8-12, 2014.
Brian Hill, CURLSASK President commented, “CURLSASK is proud of our relationships with all of our existing sponsors and are looking forward to this new relationship with Viterra. There is no doubt that curling and the agricultural community is intertwined in the fabric of Saskatchewan and we are confident this new partnership will be an asset to both our organizations.”

Nice to see Viterra stepping up to the plate. Curlign is a natural fit for them.

Sad to hear but in talking to some of the local (Saskatchewean based) competitive curling teams they are in many cases getting more sponsorship funding from out-of-province companies then Saskatchewan companies.

Considering our strong economy you would thing Saskatchewan companies would be stepping up to the plate considering curlings high TV ratings.
