The
Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that import defensive linemen Richard
Sumlin and Trevor Guyton have signed with the team. As per club policy
financial details of the contracts were not released.
Sumlin (6’2 – 275) will return to the Green and
White after spending all of last season on the practice roster. The 24-year-old
originally signed with the team in April, 2013 after playing four seasons at
the University of Findlay. The Medina, OH native played 31 career collegiate
games for the Oilers recording 167 defensive tackles and 12 quarterback sacks.
He was named All-GLIAC Second Team in 2012.
Guyton (6’3 – 280) was
selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round (219th
overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. The 24-year-old attended training camp and went
on to appear in four preseason games registering one defensive tackle.
Before
going pro, the Woodinville, WA native spent four seasons at the University of
California, playing 42 career collegiate games while registering 92 defensive
tackles and 11 quarterback sacks.
