In commemoration of the tragic passing of Derek Boogaard this past weekend, the Regina Pats have set up a memorial for Derek outside of their office for people who wish to sign a condolences book for the family. The Pats will present the book to the Boogaard family this weekend at his funeral.
Prior to playing in the National Hockey League, Derek began his Western Hockey League career with the Regina Pats in 1999 before stops with Prince George and Medicine Hat.
Regina Pats President, Brent Parker, “We are all deeply saddened by the passing of Derek; he was a soft spoken, generous person who touched everyone who knew him. Derek started his junior hockey career as a Regina Pat and while he was not with us a long time he left a lasting impression on all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Boogaard family during this difficult time.”
The condolences book will be open to the public to sign the rest of this week from 9:00am to 5:00pm in front of the Pats office located in the west entrance of the Brandt Centre.
