The NHL Is Here

Is it really time to drop the puck on the 2010-11 NHL season. It doesn't seem that long ago that Chicago was being presented with the Cup. The new season is underway as Carolina beat Minnesota in a game played in Helsinki today.

Reginans will be interested in seeing what happens with the Edmonton Oilers because of the Jordan Eberle factor. I've been an Oilers fan for years, and last year was tough to swallow but it was made easier knowing Ebs and a youth movement was on its way. I don't think Edmonton makes the playoffs this year, but I think they are on the right track.

I don't think Chicago repeats. They are still very good, but they ripped apart the grit that they had in dealing guys like Versteeg, Ladd and Byfuglien. That being said, Kane and Toews might arguably be the best all around 1-2 guys in the league.

Once again there is tremendous optimism in Vancouver. The window is closing and if Roberto Luongo can't help get it done this year, it won't happen. I'm not envisioning the Cup visiting Granville Island anytime soon.

Don't even talk to me about the Sharks. Its not happening.

The Leafs are better, but they still need one more year. If they get in, they will just squeak in. As much as I say Regina is an Oilers town because of Jordan Eberle, many in Regina will also follow the exploits of Tyler Bozak.

The surprise team this year----Tampa
