Chamblin Signs Multi Year Contract Extension
Saskatchewan Roughrider General Manager Brendan Taman announced today the contract extension of Head Coach Corey Chamblin. The new extension will see Chamblin continue in his role with the organization through the 2017 season.
“Corey is an integral part of what we do as a team on-field. He is a well-respected, intelligent coach that has high expectations for his players,” stated Taman. “Keeping him on our sidelines was an important component for our Club moving forward.”
Corey Chamblin will be entering his third season as Head Coach with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
In his second year Coach Chamblin led the Riders to a franchise best 8-1 record to open the season. The team went on to finish second in the West Division with an 11-7 record and hosted a home playoff game for the first time since 2010. After defeating the B.C. Lions in the West Semi-Final, the Riders dismantled the Stampeders 35-13 in Calgary. The Riders then defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 45-23 in the Grey Cup; winning the franchises fourth championship.
In February, Chamblin was named Canadian Football League Coach of the Year for the 2013 season.
Since joining the Riders in 2012 Corey, his wife Samantha, and their two sons, Karter and Keaton, have made Regina their year round home.
