Josh Mahura evened the WHL Final at one game apiece when his shot from the line got past Carl Stankowski into the Seattle net to give the Pats a 4-3 overtime win.
The goal was a power-play marker as Seattle's Keegan Kolesar was whistled for kneeing after delivering a knee to the midsection of Connor Hobbs in a post-play scrum.
The goal also marked another comeback by the Pats who once again showed character after getting knocked to the canvas again in these WHL playoffs.
Holding a one goal lead in the 2nd, the Thunderbirds scored three times in 56 seconds to stun a sold-out Brandt Centre squad who were starting to wonder if the team would head to Seattle down 2-0 in the best of seven especially with the fact the high-flying Pats could only muster 12 shots after two periods.
Mahura gave the Pats some life when he scored at 18:35 with Filip Ahl scoring at 5:20 of the 3rd to tie the game setting the stage for Mahura's OT heroics.
The series now goes to Seattle for Game 3 Tuesday, Game 4 Wednesday and Game 5 Friday.
It is not known if Adam Brooks will play in those games. Brooks suffered an upper-body injury when hit by Turner Ottenbreit in the second period of Game 1. Brooks did watch Game 2 from the Brandt Centre

Once again, the Pats wait until the pressure is on to turn it up a gear. That 3rd period is the way they have to play right from the drop of the puck.
Three questions and I'm sure you can't or won't answer, but here goes
1) Is Brooks going to be available for the rest of the season? I heard at the rink last night he suffered a big-time concusssion.
2) What is wrong with Davidson and why isn't Smart playing more in his absence?
3) Is Nick Henry hurt? He has not done anything since the Calgary series ended.

Three big vets plus the captain from the Thunderbirds need to take Kolesar into a empty room and give him some minutes if you know what I mean. Then the head coach needs to bench him for rest of the series as he is a big time team liability.
