The Riders have strengthened their Canadian talent on the defensive side of the ball with the acquisition of safety Mike Edem from the BC Lions on Thursday.
Through four CFL seasons, the 27-year-old University of Calgary product has registered 91 defensive tackles, 29 special-teams tackles, six interceptions and five quarterback sacks while starting 33 of 60 regular-season games. He’s also seen action in seven career playoff games.
Edem joined the Lions last season as a free agent after starting his career in Montreal when he was taken with the 3rd overall pick in the 2013 CFL draft. He had 37 defensive tackles and two interceptions in 2016.
The two teams are also swapping conditional draft picks in the 2018 CFL draft.

Interesting!
Does this mean the Kevin Francis experiment is officially over?
Did Rod say today Edem makes 140,000? That's some big cabbage for a Canadian DB!
Kevin
I don't listen to "The Egotist" but $140,000 certainly gets my attention.
I guess Jones wouldn't have traded for Edem if he didn't have a plan.
Sooner or later he's bound to come up with one.
