Wally, Wally, Wally

I'll give this to Wally Buono. He knows how to coach and he knows how to market the game. The Lions coach threw a major shot at the Rider Nation Friday afternoon in Vancouver. Speaking to Rod Pedersen, Buono said " "I guess we're gonna say we're gonna have our 13th man in the stands, not on the field right? Hahaha. Just to make it light, right? Just to make it light, so. Okay? The rivalry between the two teams is very intense but it's moreso during the three hours rather than before or after the three hours. Saskatchewan and BC bring out the best in each other when it comes to football.
As Rod stated on "The Sports Cage" when I spoke to him from "The Coov", there is no way Wally would say that in front of Ken Miller. I just wonder why he had to say it all. Here's hoping the Riders shut him up big-time tomorrow night.

I forgot how time flies when you sit in the hosts chair. It had been 20 months since I last hosted a sports talk show. It didn't take long to get right back into it. I had a fear of giving out the wrong phone number since that other one is ingrained in my head, but I got through it. I even learned a couple of things from Scott Schultz. 1)He will be the co-host in the Cage for Football Fridays for the rest of the year and 2)Toronto police wanted to fine him for smoking that big old stogie in the dressing room after the Riders had won the Grey Cup. He wasn't the only one smoking in that room that night(which I guess is illegal), but he was photographed the most and Toronto police wanted to fine him. What type of statement would that have made?

I've never been a Sandro De Angelis fan. The guy has come off as a first class knob over the past couple of years. His performance and act at the 2008 Grey Cup in Montreal was purely nauseating. He must be some kind of you know what if Nik Lewis calls him out. NIK LEWIS? Yes, the biggest mouthpiece in the CFL says De Angelis seemed to change for the worst after that Grey Cup win. Why? Sandro is a good kicker, but I don't think he is the be all-end all. Calgary certainly didn't want to keep him and he's not good enough to get an NFL look. One thing is for sure, De Angelis is a lot better than Alexis Serna. Can Winnipeg not find a better kicker than this guy? There has to be someone out there! For the 2nd week in a row, a missed field goal by Serna was taken all the way back for a touchdown----this time it cost the Bombers as the big return by Chad Owens helped catapult Toronto to a 36-34 win. Yes, the Bombers special teams are atrocious as they have allowed three return TD's in two games, but if Serna would put the ball through the uprights, this wouldn't happen. The guy was a liability last year and he's showing nothing to prove me that he still isn't.

Driving home from the Sportscage, I listened to Jamie Nye's commentary on CJME's Sportsnight and I couldn't have agreed more with him. By now I am sure you have heard the story of some clowns going around making an ass out of themselves and then saying they are Riders. Jamie suggested that when these idiots get caught, that instead of going through the court system, they head over to Mosaic Stadium. If you wanna act like you're a Rider, then become one. I'm sure there are many on the team who would "welcome" these guys. It sounds as if one guy is saying he's Darian Durant. Hey, if he thinks he's the Rider quarterback, lets put him under center. BLITZ!! Gee, I hope Geno and O'Day don't miss the blitzing linebacker coming through!
-----
It appeared as if the day was going to start with the Yankees strengthening their roster some more by getting pitcher Cliff Lee. That didn't happen. AWWWW!!! The Texas Rangers get the dominating pitcher from a disappointing Mariners squad. This will make the Rangers very tough to beat.
-----
The WWE is making a Western Canadian tour. They are going to BC, Alberta and Manitoba. HELLO?????!!!!!
-----
Riders 33 Lions 28. BC gets the late touchdown to make it look a little more appealing.

Wally should talk. He never gets off the damn field and should be penalized for that. I would change my tune on Andre Proo if Frenchie would flag him one time.

Quite the statement by Miller today saying he wants the team to score 60. Thats a little unrealistic.

Stop using the "like a you know what" crutch. It makes you look like a five year old.

When Nik Lewis is complaining about someone, that should say something.

Nye was absolutely correct with his words.

You and Schultz sounded great yesterday.

I'm thinking we should have kept Thigpen. WOW!!

I would love to see Wally and Carm get in the ring and have a "nasty" skirmish!! Wonder which one would say "No"?

D is definitely cutting down on the mistakes, and the O is becoming more consistent. Each week they improve their play, it will result in a W.
