Rams Football (CIS Ranking: No. 9) – Adrian Charles rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough as the Rams (1-1) were defeated 24-21 by defending Canada West champions Calgary on Friday night. Regina had a chance to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, but the potential game-winning drive was cut short by an interception in the end zone. The Rams, now embroiled in a four-way tie for second in the conference, will host the Saskatchewan Huskies (1-1) this Saturday at Mosaic Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Men's and Women's Cross Country – The Cougars hit the trails this weekend for the first time since winning the program’s first Canada West championship back in November, as the team will host the Cougar Trot on Saturday morning at Wascana Park. Kelly Wiebe, Dale Wig, and Iain Fyfe all return from last year’s title-winning squad, while Matt Johnson and Michael Middlemiss are expected to be among the men's team’s top newcomers.

Women’s Soccer – The Cougars (1-0-1) impressed in their Canada West openers over the weekend, defeating Fraser Valley 2-0 on Saturday and recording a 1-1 draw against Victoria on Sunday. Adrianna Bonutti scored both goals for the Cougars on Saturday, while Melanie King scored her first CIS goal late in the second half against the Vikes to square the game at one apiece. The team will be tested this weekend with road matches against No. 1-ranked Trinity Western and No. 4-ranked UBC.

Men’s Hockey – The Cougars won their first two non-conference games at The Co-Operators Centre, defeating Portage College 5-1 on Friday night and edging Manitoba 3-2 on Saturday. Terrance DeLaronde led Regina offensively, scoring four goals and adding an assist in the team’s two victories. The Cougars continue their non-conference schedule this weekend with a pair of games against NAIT and Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.

Women’s Hockey – The Cougars open up their non-conference schedule this weekend with a pair of games against the Manitoba Bisons. The teams will meet in Whitewood on Friday night and in Lebret on Saturday night. The U of R will host the six-team Mandi Schwartz Challenge from Sept. 24 to Sept. 26 at The Co-Operators Centre.
