G-S-P!!!

If you are Canadian and you are a UFC fan, you were either at a bar, at home or at a buddys place watching UFC 124 and chances are you weren't disappointed. Georges St. Pierre once again proved that pound-for-pound, he is the best MMA fighter out there as he dispatched Josh Koscheck in a unanimous decision. GSP was in control of this thing right from the get-go and he made a literal mess out of Koscheck's right eye. Just check out the picture to see what I'm talking about. It just made you wince looking at it. If they pricked that eyelid after the match, I'm guessing the blood would spurt across the room. It was tres gross!

When it was over, St. Pierre looked like he had just been through a workout. I would have to think Dana White would love to have him headline the UFC event in Toronto. Why not?

I just can't see Marc Trestman as the head coach of the University of Miami. It would be a prestigious position to have, but someone as classy as Trestman should be able to land a job with a school that has a better reputation than Miami. The Hurricanes have cleaned up their act from years gone past, but I would think there are other programs where Trestman could go. This also makes me wonder if this is why we haven't heard the name of Scott Milanovich mentioned as a possible replacement for Ken Miller. Milanovich knows what he has in Montreal and likely knows when Trestman goes that he is the man. He may know Trestman won't be back.

I am driving down the mean streets of Regina on a Saturday afternoon listening to ESPN talking about the mother of all snowstorms hitting the Twin Cities. It means the New York Giants haven't been able to get into Minneapolis for today's scheduled game against the Vikings. That game has now been pushed back to Monday. As many of you know, Rod Pedersen is there to see his beloved Brett Favre. Will he? Does the game being played Monday affect his travel? I know I am doing the Sportscage on Monday, and it would appear I am doing it Tuesday as well (sorry folks). I just can't see RP getting all the way to Minny and coming home without seeing the game. That would just be wrong. I'm doing enough shows in December as it is, I guess I can do one more.

So the Habs-Leafs game was done in 3D Saturday night. Did that apply to Don Cherry's wardrobe as well?

Thumbs up to everyone at the General Hospital emergency ward. My seven year old has been sick all week and she took a tiny turn for the worse on Saturday morning. With the clinics we would normally go to closed, we took her to the General. I thought we would be there all day, but surprisingly there weren't a lot of people in the ER and we were put through as quickly as possible. She was none the worse for wear. Her experience today and one in September of 09 when we had to hospitalize her for a couple of days makes me wonder what happened to "The Teddy Bear Bash". They used to have that behind the T-C Douglas building and I thought it was great as healthcare professionals showed little kids who brought their "injured" or "sick" teddy bear just what happens when they go a hospital to make it easier. I don't know why that event was ashcanned, but it should be brought back.

113-thousand people watched Michigan beat Michigan State in a hockey game played at Michigan Stadium on Saturday. That's impressive! Perhaps the next NHL winter classic should be played there with the Wings taking on whoever.

I have links to the blogs of SJHL broadcasters Dan O'Connor (Battlefords), Craig Stein (Yorkton), Darryl Skender (Humboldt, Melfort, Nipawin) and Brendan Ullrich (Kindersley). There is now another one. Brad McNeil (who isn't a broadcaster) has started a Weyburn Red Wings blog so it is also now linked to this blog. Speaking of the Wings, they went into Melfort Saturday night and beat the Mustangs 1-0. Two of the best goalies in the league this year have been Weyburn's Mitch Kilgore and Melfort's Charles Corsi. I'm guessing they stole the show at the Northern Lights Palace.

The best NFL game of the day tomorrow might be the Patriots and the Bears. Can Chicago silence the mighty Tom Brady at home? I'm still not sold on the Bears, but they will gain a lot of respect from me and many others if they beat New England. Big game for the Seahawks as they are in San Francisco. A win keeps them atop the division---I don't know if they win this one though. They are always in tough at Candlestick. Gus Johnson is apparently doing Kansas City and San Diego so expect that one to go right to the end.

I don't care what you say, "Dodgeball" is one of the best movies ever made. I could watch that flick over and over and over again.

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball. Arguably one of the greatest lines ever uttered in a movie.

RP will lose his mind if he gets to Minny and is unable to watch the game. It sounds like his buddy has a surprise waiting for him too which doubles the expectation and frustration for him.

Guess Roddy will miss the game for sure now that it is pushed back to at least Wednesday. Hope Cindy got the Christmas shopping done at Mall of America at least. At least the Riders and City/Province were smart enough to rule out a bubble for the "new domed stadium".
