MNF Game Answers Two Questions

What an epic beatdown by the New England Patriots. In a battle of 9-2 teams, the Patriots-Jets matchup looked like one of those early season college football games where powerhouse takes on creampuff with the score being as one-sided as expected. Since getting upset in Cleveland a month ago, the Patriots have rattled off four straight wins and they have put up 39, 31, 45 and 45 in those wins. While people talk about Michael Vick or Phillip Rivers being the MVP, Tom Brady may have just issued an MVP statement of his own.

While I think the Atlanta Falcons are the best team in the NFC right now, they may pale in comparison to the Patriots. The good news is there is still one quarter of the season to go before playoffs begin so a lot can change.

The second question the Patriots answered is a question that hits closer to home and it involves the Riders dynamic pint-sized receiver Weston Dressler. I didn't really doubt it before, but I am now 100 percent convinced that number 7 could have a prosperous NFL career which would be tragic news for the green and white. If little guys like Wes Welker and Danny Woodhead (who used to be on the Riders neg list) can slice and dice through opposition offences catching and running the football then so can Dressler. He would shine with someone if he was put in the right situation.

It would be catastrophic for the football team if Dressler gained NFL employment, but you would have to feel good for Dressler if he could. He would succeed in the NFL, just like he has in the CFL and you could say you had a chance to enjoy his talents. The only thing that may stop him from not being in the NFL next year is the lockout----that's another story all in itself.

Josh McDaniels was fired as coach of the Denver Broncos Monday. Somewhere I am guessing Rob Vanstone is doing cartwheels. CJME's Jamie Nye suggested that the Riders should interview McDaniels just to see the column that the McDaniels hating Vanstone would write. Methinks the rumpled scribe would crush a few pens in anguish. McDaniels was a perfect example to me as someone who just wasn't polished enough to be a head coach. Yes, he was the offensive co-ordinator under Bill Belichick when the Patriots were a Super Bowl away from having a perfect season. He called the plays that saw Tom Brady throw a record 50 TD passes, but does that instantly qualify him as an NFL head coach. His first move was to alienate his quarterback (Jay Cutler) and it went all downhill from there. I can see McDaniels resurfacing as a co-ordinator, but not as a head coach.

I can't wait for GSP to knock Josh Koscheck's lights out in Montreal Saturday night,

Do you think White City product Ryan Murray is waiting to lace up the skates for the Everett Silvertips tonight against the Regina Pats? He will have a big cheering section tonight. When you play for a West coast team and you only get to come home every 2nd year, its a big deal. Murray is also headed to the Canadian junior team selection camp. The fact he is going and Jordan Weal isn't throws cold water on the juniors being a team of 19 year olds. I don't care how the Pats spin it, the fact Murray is going to the camp and Weal isn't says something.

I've been praying for an NFL lockout because of Weston Dressler and Jerrell Freeman. Selfish, eh?

Based on your last comment of this post, I guess I won't be leaving any comment.

Losing Dressler would be catastrophic. Selfishly, I hope it doesn't happen, but realistically I wonder if we have seen the last of number 7. If he goes, he isn't coming back.

Based on your last comment of this post, I'm guessing you became tired of talking with Baldy McDumbDumb and his little ass-kissing weasel.

Vanstone isn't the only Broncos fan doing cartwheels over MacDaniels firing. The guy showed he didn't have what it takes when he pissed Cutler off as soon as he took the job. It will take a while for the organization to clean up the mess he left.

With a quarter of the season left, your Super Bowl champs are once again the NE Patriots. Book it!

your evaluation of mcdaniels pours a little cold water on the idea of hiring dave dickenson as head coach...but on the other hand that austin guy worked out pretty well as did mr. miller...
