Deals Aplenty In Humboldt

The question surrounding the Humboldt Broncos for much of the 2010-11 SJHL season was would they be selling assets seeing they are the host team for the 2012 RBC Cup or would they try to take a run at this year’s title seeing they had the talent. We found out the answer Friday morning.

Broncos head coach and GM Dean Brockman has orchestrated four trades that sees four players leave the organization for future considerations. The biggest deal saw the Broncos send 20 year old forwards Justin Buzzeo and Jeremy Boyer—both who are in the top 5 in league scoring this year with 56 points each—to the Yorkton Terriers.

Terriers GM Don Chesney says it was his thought that the team needed a little more horsepower and that it was time to do something to get the team going in the 2nd half. Chesney knows the competition in the playoffs will be very intense again this year and that this will hopefully give them a better chance at having a long and successful playoff run.

In addition to dealing Buzzeo and Boyer, the Broncos sent forward Riley Gillies to the Dauphin Kings of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League and Nick Keller to the Swan Valley Stampeders of the MJHL.

The moves come in advance of the SJHL trade deadline which is Monday.

Great trade for Yorkton. I'm guessing this means Breitkreuz ends up in Humboldt next year. If it means an RBC Cup for him this year and next, that's great, but I'll miss seeing him in Yorkton.

Definately gonna be Breitkreuz in my opinion , but the Terriers sure loaded up!! Still hope my Wings add some scoring , they are going to need it to get out of the south!
