SJHL MVP AND POY ARE OFF TO TEXAS

The SJHL’s reigning MVP and Player of the Year have both signed professional contracts. La Ronge Ice Wolves forwards Travis Eggum and Marc-Andre Carre have both signed on with the Central Hockey League’s Rio Grande Killer Bees.

Eggum and Carre were two huge reasons as to why the Ice Wolves won the SJHL Championship for a second straight season. Eggum was named the MVP after becoming the first SJHL player to score 50 goals in a season since 2002 as he averaged a goal a game finishing with 58. The Saskatoon native followed that up with 29 points in 17 playoff games.

Carre tied Eggum for the league lead in points with 106 points as he was named the player of the year. The product of Baie Comeau, Quebec then led his team and the league in playoff scoring by registering 30 points.

The Killer Bees are based in Hidalgo, Texas and are coached by Prince Albert product and former NHL’er Terry Ruskowski.
