Riders Give Back

Saskatchewan Roughrider Chairman Roger Brandvold announced today that ten communities across the province will receive financial grants as part of the Club’s Centennial Legacy Fund.

Big River, Canora, Dalmeny, Estevan, Milestone, Meadow Lake, Moosomin, North Battleford, Regina and Warman will receive cheques to help supplement a variety of amateur football initiatives.

The $650,000 legacy fund was established in 2011 to help support amateur football throughout the province. The fund consists of profits generated from the Roughriders centennial celebrations held throughout 2010.

Through a partnership with Sask Sport and the previously established Sport Legacy Fund, the funds are being dispersed for amateur football capital projects. A committee has been formed in partnership with Football Saskatchewan and Sask Sport that will establish application guidelines and criteria for making the grant decisions.

“Investments such as this ensure the centennial celebrations legacy lasts well beyond 2010. This fund is making an incredible impact on communities across the province and allows more kids to enjoy the benefits of participating in minor sports.”
