The University of Regina Rams announced Tuesday their 2014
schedule, which starts with a non-conference game against Alberta in late
August and continues with a Week 1 home game against UBC the following Saturday
night.
After the non-conference tuneup against the Golden Bears on
Aug. 29 (6 p.m.), the Rams kick off the Canada West schedule on Sept. 5 (7
p.m.) against UBC. It will mark the third time in the past four seasons that
the U of R has hosted the Thunderbirds in its conference home opener, as the
Rams also played UBC in their first game at Mosaic Stadium in both 2011 and
2012.
But the Rams will then play four of their next five games
away from home, starting with back-to-back road games against Manitoba (Sept.
12) and Alberta (Sept. 20). The Rams return to Regina for a Week 4 home game
against Saskatchewan on Sept. 27 (2 p.m.), which sets up another back-to-back
set of road games at Calgary (Oct. 4) and UBC (Oct. 18).
The Rams then finish off the conference schedule with home
games in Week 7 and Week 8, first against Manitoba (Oct. 25) and then against
Alberta (Nov. 1) in a pair of games that feature 2 p.m. kickoff times.
This year’s Canada West champion will head to Quebec to play
the RSEQ winner in the Uteck Bowl (Nov. 22), with the winner advancing to the
50th Vanier Cup which will be played on Nov. 29 at a location to be announced.
