The 1984-85 Edmonton Oilers, the second of 5 Oiler squads to win the Stanley Cup, was named by the NHL on Monday as being the greatest NHL team of all time as chosen by the fans.
In a statement, the NHL says more than 3.6 million votes for the greatest team were cast over a six-week period beginning at the start of the Stanley Cup playoffs as part of the NHL’s centennial celebration.

And they played real hockey, not the garbage game the NHL has become now.
Agreed with Anon 1. This was the game at its best. We will never see that again for a variety of reasons including coaching!

Thought one of Sid's teams would crack the top 10
The '75 Flyers would have had one of those rooty poo, candy _ss teams (courtesy The Rock) from Edmonton or Hockeytown leaving the ice in the 2nd period just like the Soviet Red Army did in '76. Messier and Semenko maybe would have lingered on the bench..
#Foil'emUp.
There's only one team in this millennium and that's 15 years ago. That's about when they quit playing hockey and went to the current crap.
Dump it in the corner, whack hack, slash, elbow, knee, clutch, grab and slewfoot until someone finally gets the puck.
If the offensive team recovers the puck he sends it back to the point so the defenseman can take a shot which is blocked.
If a defensive player gets the puck he also sends it back to the point hoping it will hop over the offensive defenseman's stick.
Repeat as often as required. No skating or stickhandling required.
