Armstead Is No Longer A Rider

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have officially released import kick/punt returner Jason Armstead.

“We had talked to Jason in the recent past and told him he was released from the team,” stated Head Coach and Vice President of Football Operations Ken Miller. “At that time we had no prior knowledge of his unfortunate legal troubles.”

Miller explained that the team had not yet made his release public as they were working behind the scenes to assistant him in trying to acquire a roster position with another team within the CFL.

“This is an unfortunate situation for Jason, but at this time he is no longer a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders,” concluded Miller. “We do appreciate what he contributed to the team last season and wish him well in his future.”

Armstead re-joined the Riders for the remaining 11 regular season games and playoffs of the 2009 season.

No surprise here. Once Dorsey was signed the writing was on the wall. This would have cinched it though. As someone said on RP's blog, once a thug, always a thug!
