DeLaet Makes A Name For Himself

Graham DeLaet has a ways to go yet before he can be put up there with the likes of Stephen Ames and Mike Weir when it comes to Canadians on the PGA Tour, but the Weyburn native certainly took a gigantic step in his young career this weekend as he finished tied for 3rd at the Shell Houston Open to collect 336 thousand, 400 dollars. He was one shot off the winning total of Anthony Kim and he made two great putts on 17 and 18 to stay in contention. DeLaet has shown he can play with the big boys. While this is his first top 5 finish, it won't be his last. The PGA Tour created a new name this week and that name is Graham DeLaet. Being from Saskatchewan though, I'm disappointed he was wearing red and not green on his final day. He also needs to get the all too famous /=S=/ on his wardrobe. Perhaps his brother in law can help him out with that or perhaps Jim Hopson or Steve Mazurak might want to get in touch with his people and provide him with a sponsorship deal. Tell me, how cool would it be to see DeLaet doing his thing on a Sunday while wearing a Rider golf shirt. If Cam Ward could wear a Rider hat during the Hurricanes Stanley Cup parade a few years ago, DeLaet can certainly wear a Rider golf shirt. Congrats Graham. Keep up the good work.

Donovan McNabb gets traded to the Redskins. The Redskins? Why would Philly want to send their marquee quarterback to a division rival. McNabb will get two shots at his former teammates this year and any other year that he is there. Does Donovan want to stay in Washington with Mike Shanahan for more than one year? If he does, I see this deal coming back to bite the Eagles in the butt bigtime. I can't see the Redskins challenging the Cowboys, Giants or Eagles in the NFC East this year, but in the NFL, you just never know. What does this mean for Jason Campbell? I'm guessing the former starting quarterback will be looking for a new home. Can you say Raiders boys and girls!
-----
The Red Sox actually trotted out Neil Diamond for the 7th inning stretch to sing "Sweet Caroline". Somewhere Rider communications man Ryan Whippler smiles(and likely sings along). If it wasn't for Jimmy Fallon and that stupid movie that he and Drew Barrymore did, Diamond would not be getting the fame for this song that he has. I forget what that movie was called, but it was BAD! Then again, I've never been a Fallon fan.
-----
If he had played all year in Toronto would Regina's Tyler Bozak be considered as a candidate for the NHL rookie of the year this season? Do you know he leads all rookies in points per game this year.
----
The Avalanche beat the Sharks in overtime thus driving another nail into the coffin of the Flames. I don't see Calgary making the playoffs. If Darryl Sutter goes, I mean when Darryl Sutter goes, does it mean Brent will follow. Would Brent go back to coaching the Red Deer Rebels? I have said before that I like Edmonton's future better than I do Calgary's and I mean that. With guys like Kiprusoff, Iginla, Bouwmeester, Regehr and Langkow, the Flames should be a much better team. They would be wise to blow that team up and start from scratch as well.

Is it still nine weeks until Rider training camp starts? SIGHHHHHH!

Graham James has apparently been pardoned by the National Parole Board. EXCUSE ME?! That just makes me one or two levels beyond nauseous. Where is that dirtbag these days anyhow? The Prime Minister's office says this a “deeply troubling and gravely disturbing” development that demands an explanation from the parole board. That's an understatement! Heads need to roll here!
-----
If he is still there at #5, do not be surprised if the Pats take defenceman Josh Morrissey from Calgary with their first pick in the WHL Bantam Draft. The problem is he may not be there at number 5. He may not be there at number 3.
------
I'll leave you with this as you start your Monday. If the Easter Bunny didn't bring what you were looking for, consider that he might have been having a bad "hare" day!
-----
Later!

How can a scumbag like Graham James get pardoned? Those responsible must be relieved of their duties.

Fever Pitch--a terrible movie!

Graham DeLaet was the story of the weekend. He is the reason why my backyard didn't cleaned up. It would be very cool to see him wearing Rider colours as he strutted down the fairway. The S is everywhere so why not on the PGA Tour. Maybe he could lend a hat to Tiger--HA HA!

Has the National Parole Board let Clifford Olson go too. What a joke! How this guy can be exonerated for what he did to Fleury, Kennedy and god knows how many others can't be swept under the carpet. Hopefully Harper finds those responsible and tells them their services are no longer needed.

On a much happier topic, DeLaet has shown he can play with the big boys. I predict he wins before this season is over.

Its rather disturbing that James has been pardoned, but who in their right mind would allow this guy near kids again? No one in Canada would and if they did, questions would have be asked. Is he even in Canada anymore? I would love to see him in a darkened room with Fleury and Kennedy for 10 minutes.

Nice observation on Tyler Bozak. He certainly hasn't disappointed and by the sounds of it, they are counting on him to be a main cog in the rebuilding effort.

As a Cowboys fan, I am puzzled by DMac going to the Redskins. Its better than the Raiders for him I guess but still. I'm guessing he knows Favre is coming back for next year and then when he retires he will call Childress.

Sweet Caroline has been sung at Red Sox games long before "Fever Pitch" ever came out. Nice try Mitchy.

It has? That's news to me Jordan. Why?

Just seeing James' face makes me want to punch the computer screen. The individual at the NPB who did this should be identified and fired immediately.

Some idiot on Pederson's blog doesn't know who Graham DeLaet is. WAKE UP IDIOT! With all the money the Riders have, they should sponsor this guy. Can you imagine him wearing a Riders golf shirt and getting the team a whole lot of attention stateside if and when he keeps playing well.

Hey TS,

Can you imagine how far out of the Riders' price range sponsorship of a PGA golfer is? And what exactly would that sponsorship get them? Are a lot of people going to drive up from Georgia to check out CFL games and buy merchandise?

They have this other league down there. You may have heard of it.

Donovan McNabb as a Redskin simply won't look right. I find it hard to believe Washington provided the Eagles with the best deal. I honestly thought he would end up with someone like Buffalo or the Raiders. If he stays in Washington beyond this year, the Eagles might regret this move.
