Who Has Seen The Wind?

Holy crap! That was one wild day out there. I have seen strong winds in Regina before, but nothing as sustained as what we saw yesterday. When you have to evacuate Regina's tallest building, you know that either A)the wind is really blowing or B) Tim Kydd, Tony Playter and others at SGI just decided they wanted to get their weekend started early.
Like many of you, time was spent in the backyard picking this up and putting that back where it belongs. While the chairs survived, the porch swing did not. Methinks it may be time to buy a new one of those.
It was scary being out there. I was on the Ring Road heading south around 5 o'clock and I could feel my car being pushed sideways by the wind. Uh---no thanks! I'll get off at this exit thank you very much.
Dan McIntosh of CTV provided the best report out of anyone. Dan actually had the gall to go to a golf course and tee one up before driving it down the fairway with the wind at his back. His comment "It was HUGE!" Nice job Danny Mac.
Former co-worker Alex Docking proved once again why for my money, he is the best news reader going. His 430 and 5 o'clock casts were simply gold. He is one of the good ones, and he is also one that deserves a much bigger role than he currently has. Its something I have said for a long, long time.

I didn't think the Blades had much of a chance after losing the first two games at home, but getting Lorne Molleken and others back after that brawl against Red Deer has been a big plus for the Blades. So much so, that they have evened the best of 7 against Brandon at 2 after a 4-3 win in Game 4. The home team is 0-4 in this series. I'm guessing the Blades wouldn't mind one bit if that stat stayed that way throughout this matchup. Medicine Hat earns another home game after staving off elimination with a 5-4 win.

Some have asked what happened to Saskatchewan's sexiest blogger(no, not me) and why his blog had all of a sudden gone private. I can tell you that now that his secret mission that took him away from the public domain for a while has come to an end. (OK, his penile enlargement surgery has been completed...OOPS, I wasn't supposed to reveal that info)Anyhow, he is back and back with a bang as he rails on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

As the parent of a small child myself, I can't disagree with what he says. However, I am deeply afraid that he will be out somewhere when out of the shadows will hop out you know who and pummel him to within an inch of his life by using Handy Manny's tools on him.

I don't often cheer for the Leafs, however, a win over Montreal in tonite's season finale and there is a chance the Habs don't make the playoffs. If that does happen, I will be sure to call my brother-in-law in Yorkton to remind him of this fact. I may have to call him several times just to make sure he gets the message.
-----
Speaking of Yorkton, the Terriers need a win at home in Game 6 to force a Game 7 in the SJHL final. La Ronge comes within a game of the Credit Union Cup after a 3-1 win to take a 3-2 lead. The winner of this series automatically moves into the RBC so its obviously going to be a biggie at the Agriplex or whatever corporate name is attached to that rink on Sunday.

I get the feeling the last 36 holes of the Masters are going to be great theatre. If its going to be another windy day tomorrow, I'll be settling down to watch the 3rd round.

Four games into the season and the Cubs bullpen has blown two leads. SIGHHHHHH!!!

If I've said it once, I will say it again. For a sports fan, satellite radio is the best invention ever. I can be out and about and listen to the Masters(golf on radio does suck though), baseball and hockey. If I want to listen to the NBA, I can do that too. LOVE IT!

Henrik Sedin might actually beat Sid and Ovie for the NHL scoring title. I wouldn't have made that bet at the start of the season. Say what you will about Crosby and Ovechkin, but Henrik has a good shot at being MVP. My vote would probably still go to Ovechkin, but Henrik will get a lot of votes.

UFC 112 is today. It comes to us from Abu Dhabi meaning it happens this morning, but we won't see it until tonight. Anderson Silva and Damian Maia will show us who the best middleweight in the world is. My money is on Silva for what its worth. BJ Penn and Frankie Edgar will likely go the distance and I would love to see Edgar win because I think Penn is a whiny bitch, but BJ will likely get the decision.

Congrats to Christine Stapleton. The former coach of the Cougar ladies basketball team was inducted into the U of R sports hall of fame Friday night. If you know Regina sports, you know the Cougar lady hoopsters have been national contenders for many, many years. It all started when Christine started to wield her magic in 1993. Once she got things rolling, the Cougar basketball team has arguably been the face of the entire U of R athletic program winning many conference titles and many appearances at the nationals --winning once. It was up to Jeff Speedy and then Dave Taylor to continue the tradition of excellence Christine set and they have done so and will continue to do so for a number of years. One could argue that Christine's job with the program is one of the reasons why a new gym was built on campus. A gym that could host a national womens basketball championship like the U of R did in 2009.

Cheerleaders at Saginaw High School in Fort Worth, Texas, have a strange way of spreading school spirit. A handful of girls have been disciplined for giving their teammates sodas that contained urine, reports the Fort Worth Star Telegram.
According to a parent of one of the students who drank the tainted beverages, one girl peed into a cup, then mixed in it with the sodas. The other girls then got the idea to distribute the drinks to teammates at the basketball game.
When the prank victims complained the drinks tasted funny, the cheerleaders said it was tart candy.
District officials told the Star Telegram two of the girls have received in-school suspensions and the others got lesser punishments.
When you can't trust a cheerleader, who can you trust. HUH? HUH! Perky and annoying one moment, diabolical and cunning the next. What is it with cheerleaders in Texas anyhoo? Wasn't it in Texas where the one mom plotted to kidnap and kill a cheerleader because she was the head one and her daughter wasn't. They're a strange bunch in the Lone Star State it would seem.

Have a good weekend. Enjoy the Masters and the final Saturday of NHL play.

You're right when it comes to Stapleton. She turned the ladies basketball program into one of the best ones in Canada. It went from a gym where hardly anyone watched their games to a point where you couldn't squeeze another person in thus necessitating a new gym. It would have been a nice touch to rename the CKHS, the Stapleton Gymnasium last night. Without her, I don't think that building would be there.

Everyone knows if Alec or Murray programmed that station instead of that ass-kissing troll that all would be good. Until people see what a disaster he is, it won't change.
