Eskimos Release Fiacconi

Edmonton Eskimo General Manager Eric Tillman announced today the club has released non-import offensive lineman Aaron Fiacconi.

A ten-year CFL veteran, Fiacconi has spent the past five seasons with the Green & Gold. His 2011 season was cut short by a rotator cuff injury. Fiacconi received the 2011 David Boone Memorial Award for his outstanding work in the community.

Tillman says, “On behalf on the club, Coach Reed and I would like to thank Aaron for his significant contributions to our team and the Edmonton community. In almost every player’s career there is an eventual passing of the torch to the young guys and we're fortunate to have two quality centers in Gord Hinse and Kyle Koch. That said, it's never easy to say goodbye to a class act like Aaron. Fortunately, he's recovered from his surgery and at age 32, we strongly believe Aaron can help a club in need of a seasoned vet, especially one who will bring strong leadership qualities to a locker room."
