Riders Make Woldu Signing Official

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that they have agreed to terms with non-import defensive back Paul Woldu. Financial details of the signing were not released.

Woldu (6’0 – 165 lbs) comes home to Saskatchewan after spending the past four seasons with the Montreal Alouettes. In 66 regular season games played with the Als, the 27-year-old tallied 50 special teams tackles, 29 defensive tackles, and three interceptions for 72 yards and one touchdown. He was also a member of the 2009 and 2010 Grey Cup championship teams.

Prior to being drafted by the Alouettes in the 5th round (36th overall) in the 2008 CFL Canadian Draft, Woldu attended training camp with the Riders in 2006 as a junior before spending the next two seasons with the Saskatchewan Huskies. The Regina native played four seasons with the Regina Thunder before his time with the Huskies.
