Hey Mitch. You must have missed the whole Marchand Clipping on Salo incident back in January. He got 5 games, partially because he's been in trouble before, but I recommend you watch video of that play and then I look forward to your comments. Seems to be a lot of leeway in it's calling/enforcement.

Steve:
I did see the Marchand incident, but I did not know clipping was the call. Apples and oranges with the two situations. Stevenson went into the corner face to face and didn't lowball him.... the MJ player didn't come crashing to the ice. He skated to the bench as if nothing had happened. You can argue for a minor, but a major was highly unwarranted in what happened last night.
No connection from Marchand to Stevenson when it comes to the hits Steve. Not even close.
Matt
Moose Jaw fan here who was sitting in the corner where the Stevenson play happened. That play didn't even warrant a penalty in my mind. Stevenson came in and hit the Warrior player. He skated up the ice as did Stevenson and the whistle blew. I have no idea what the ref was looking at or why he would have called it. Don't you think there would have been some oooohs and ahhhhs coming from that part of the building after a hit if it was a big one or a dangerous one? This was nothing like the Marchand hit that Steve alludes to. I don't even know if it was a penalty as bizarre as it was.
Brayden Point will be special by the time he is eligible for the draft. Remember the name!
Steve:
There is a huge difference between the Stevenson play and the Marchand play. Were you at the game?

I was close to where it happened. It "was not" a penalty, minor or major. McFaul, the benches, the fans both sides didn't know what the hell the ref was doing. The penalties were 4-3 in the first period. As soon as the Pats started bringing it MJ had 5 consecutive PP and the Pats didn't get a single one. A phantom "clipping" call to boot.
If that would have happened in MJ the would be rioting. We sat by respectful fans in MJ and the fans we sat by here were very nice. Almost all of them said they didn't deserve the game but thanked the "Stripes" for giving it to them. The Pats had momentum and would have won the game 5-3 if not to a game changing call. freakin amazing this incompetence exists in a key playoff game..
That reffing was as close as I've ever seen to being blatantly fixed. Those young kids got cheated out of a win. Left their hearts on the ice last night, and the Ref took over the game. 18 was brutal all night.
Mitch, you were right when you made the comment on the Sports Cage that we WERE GOING INTO OVERTIME IN THIS GAME. See, you are not that delusional! LOL
Sorry guys. i wasn't comparing the hits, I was only mentioning that clipping has been called, it gets called a lot of different ways and it is always up to the ref's discression(sp).
I didn't see the hit, I didn't even hear a description, only that it was called clipping, hence my comment to have Mitch look at that incident.
