Lapolice Gets Contract Extension
Vice-President of Football Operations and General Manager Joe Mack has announced today that Head Coach Paul LaPolice has signed a two-year extension with the Football Club. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
LaPolice is entering his third season at the helm of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and orchestrated one of the biggest turnarounds in CFL history, taking his squad that finished last place in 2010 and guiding them to an East Division championship last year and an appearance in the 99th Grey Cup in Vancouver. LaPolice was nominated for Coach of the Year this past season.
“I am very pleased to extend the contract of Coach LaPolice,” said Vice-President of Football Operations and General Manager Joe Mack. “Over his first two seasons as Head Coach, he has shown tremendous progress and leadership, and an obvious ability to overcome adversity and steer our team in the right direction. In just two years we have seen a great turnaround and a Grey Cup appearance, and I am confident there is much more of that to come in the next few seasons.”
“I’m thrilled to get this agreement done and remain the Head Coach for years to come,” said Paul LaPolice. “I am very confident that we are a team on the rise and look forward to continued success. This is a great organization with an amazing fan base, and a great core of young players.
LaPolice joined the Blue Bombers as Head Coach in January of 2010 after spending the previous two seasons as offensive coordinator for the Saskatchewan Roughriders where in 2009 his offence ranked second in scoring, second in touchdowns scored and third in both passing and rushing touchdowns, helping the Riders compete for the 2009 Grey Cup.
LaPolice won a Grey Cup in 2007 as the receivers coach for the Roughriders.

Good for Lapo. He's a good man. Should have been COY in my mind.

I wish Shawn Lucas sits on the bench, we win the '09 Grey Cup and Grampa retires. Lapo would be our coach. Dream on, dream on.
