Saskatchewan Roughrider linebacker Jerrell Freeman has been named the CFL’s Gibson’s Finest Defensive Player of the Week.
Freeman was a dominant force on defence in the Riders 37-13 victory over the Lions at Mosaic Stadium on Thursday night. The 24-year-old recorded three quarterback sacks and three defensive tackles as he kept continuous pressure on Lions quarterback Jarious Jackson.
So far this season the Mary Bardin-Baylor product has tallied seven special team tackles, five defensive tackles, three quarterback sacks and one forced fumble.
Freeman joins teammates Brent Hawkins, Luca Congi, Darian Durant and Andy Fantuz as weekly award winners this season.

Was nice to see Milt give the TSN game ball to Jerrel. Neat that Dunigan was able to give the locale of Mary Bardin-Baylor college...not too far from Waco, TX. I find it classy when the announcers plug the players school.
